The food is good. The pork burger is good but NOT like “wow it’s so good”. From the three dishes we ordered, I would say I like the noodles with braised pork. The handmade noodles are good but I wish they can make the noodle texture to be a bit more bouncy. Then it will be very good. I probably have tried many dishes in China and probably the taste didn’t surprise me here. I mean I would come back again but I wouldn’t say it is the best I ever had.

Very small place but cosy. Xi'an style Chinese food. Pretty well made. House chicken, pork sandwich and lamb soup are all really good. Only complaint is the lamb biryani is a bit dry.

Food was delicious here. I was craving hand pulled noodles and it satisfied my craving. They even have spinach hand pulled noodles. The dumplings are also very good, and it's a nice, homemade food type of restaurant. The only downside is that the restaurant is quite small and the ambiance is not the best, but the service is great.

Great place, attended second time. Reasonable price and delicious dishes. Good customer service. The only down side is the restaurant was small. If you do not have the reservation and with more than two people you might need to wait a bit.

Cold spicy chicken was nice, the pork burger wasn't bad either....the spinach noodles however....was extremely overcooked. No bounce or spring in these noodles....flavour was decent though. Would I give them another shot? Maybe if I was in the area....

Great service, great food. Came here after watching Strictly Dumpling's YouTube video and they did not disappoint. Basically, ordered everything Mikey Chen ordered.

Joojak is amazing! We had the biang biang noodles and the mouth watering chicken and the pork burger. All three were excellent! The chicken must've been the best rendition of that dish that I've ever had. The flavor was so subtle and nuanced. The chili in there was incredible. The space itself is super tiny. A true hole in the wall but the food was really excellent. It's a definite return, again and again, whenever I'm in Vancouver.

Okay, this place is the bomb. It’s AMAZING. The service is warm and welcoming and the food is even better. I watched Mike Chen’s video on it and he was right, it doesn’t disappoint. We had the pork bun—flavourful without being fatty, with a crispy bun, and they even cut it in half for us to share without being asked. We also had the “kou shui” chicken, and it was out of this world. The flavours were so on point and it tasted so fresh. I wanted to eat more of it!But we had more food—noodles. Delicious and flavourful broth with tender noodles... very yummy and satisfying. Also, the prices are really good! I’m surprised that they can be profitable when their prices are so competitive. If you go to other restaurants, the same food costs more and is less delicious.Honestly everything was really good and I look forward to going back to try some of the cold noodle dishes. You really can’t go wrong with this joint. We will definitely be returning!

The lamb burgers are quite salty and the green onion pancakes are mediocre, they taste as if it were frozen. However the chicken in chili sauce is very good.

Great place to go have some authentic Xian food! Must try their pork or lamb "burger" and their steamed chicken in chili oil! Super friendly owner. I've been here 4 times in the past 6 months and it's been great everytime. Limited seating though so best to come in the non peak hours or make reservations.

Amazing amazing Xi-An cuisine. The owner is super friendly. She introduced us to a lot of dishes to try. We had the dumplings in spicy sour soup, Xi-An burger, hand made noodles in chili oil and steamed chicken in chili sauce. So good! Highly recommend the place.

Stumbled into this little hole in the wall after finding out most Chinese restaurants are closed on Wednesday. I’m Chinese and haven’t had Chinese cuisine like this; my dining companion who has been to Xian says this is very authentic Northern Chinese cuisine. For a small place, they have a lot of options on their menu. We ended up ordering the pork burger, pita bread in lamb soup, and beef roll - everything came quickly and was delicious. Staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. Would definitely come back and try some of the other dishes on their menu.

Very authentic Chinese northern cuisine in small family restaurant. Truly a gem on Kingsway in place wouldn't expect to find such good food. Brought me back to taste of Xi An...great noodles, medium spice, amazing 羊肉泡馍,口水鸡。 Wanted to order so much more than I could eat on the menu...will go back

Family owned small Xian restaurant on the busy stretch of Kingsway. There are many of Xian restaurants opened the last few years in the same area. This one is smaller one. Food is ok. Little oily to my liking. Not a big menu. Most of the dishes are noodles and dumplings. Service is attentive.

Delicious. The hamburgers are one of the best things I've eaten in a long time, and the cold noodles are so refreshing and fresh. Our server was very helpful and kind, she might have been the owner. She was made our dinner fun and carefree, and we tried something new.

Found this place while walking to another restaurant with family. Walked in with 6 people and were not sure we would fit as it's a tiny cozy restaurant and it was busy. Greeted by a very friendly lady who worked there and pushed 2 tables together that seated all of us. She gave us menus and offered us a brief description of what region of China the dishes were based on and made some recommendations. Everything we ordered was Amazing! The food was fresh, flavoured well and tasted delicious!!!! The stand out to me were the pulled noodle dishes! We ordered a vegetarian one and another with minced pork and chili. Both were tender, well seasoned and flavorful!!! The price points were very reasonable for such generous portions. We left stuffed and very satisfied! Will definitely return here again!

This place does some of the best Northern style Chinese food. Their spinach hand pulled noodles, meat burgers and the spicy chicken are must try. Not only is the food great, the owner is very nice and she will explain the menu if it's your first time. Very attentive service in a mom and pop style restaurant. Definitely will be going back again.

Oh man. Everything here is delicious. The dumplings, noodles, soups, lamb/pork burger, it's all very good. I really recommend the pork hock or cold chicken dish. They have a chicken and potato rice dish on the back of the menu that is a little lacking however, but again everything else is amazing. I don't eat out that often but I make it a point to come here at least once or twice a month. Also their homemade chili sauce is great.

A very nice, although small restaurant that has 6 tables which seat 4 each. Clean, modern and cozy. Friendly and helpful staff, with exceptional service. Impressive food presentation with high quality fresh ingredients. Excellent combination of spices that results in delicious flavours. We had the Xian pork and lamb burgers, along with spicy fried fish and vegetables, green onion cake and handmade noodle topped with pork and vegetables. Fantastic experience and highly recommended.

Joojak is a tiny little restaurant, a bit hard to spot among the similar store fronts in the Kingsway/Joyce area. The interior is very basic, almost hole-in-the-wall, and could probably only seat 10 or so. But put that aside and you may have found the most authentic Xian Chinese food in town! If you're not afraid of a little pork fat, the Xian Burger is very good, but make sure to spring for the extra peppers and cilantro. The Steamed Chicken in Chile Sauce is drenched in a red flavourful oil that will scare most dieters, but hey, you only live once! The hand-pulled noodles are similarly terrific. At first glance it looks to be deceptively simple, just noodles dressed with a bit of soy, a bit of vinegar, but you might find it hard to stop slurping down these long slippery ribbons!Add to that the friendly staff, and you've got a winner. If ambience doesn't concern you, then you're in for some seriously good food...

I've been here twice - I got the pork burger both times and is totally worth the trip! The service isn't the friendliest, but everything we orded comes out quickly. I would recommend coming at non-peak hours since seating is limited and there's been a line up both times.

I love this place. A bit hole-in-the-wall but very popular. I especially enjoy their liangpi, kou shui ji, and biang biang noodles. I find their liangpi to be less oily than other restaurants and it results in the proper refreshing taste one expects from this noodle dish. I suggest having kou shui ji with rice as the sauce would be a shame to waste. Their pork buns are also very good. They take reservations, which is probably the smart way to go if you plan on coming during peak business hours. The wait wasn't long on a Sunday evening around 6:30PM. Interior is okay, a little cramped but clean tables.

Was looking forward to a spicy and flavorful dinner. But the dishes were not as expected. Noodles were handmade - I guess it’s the cultural dishes that I haven't gotten used to the blend of flavors. One of the chicken dish with potatoes was a bit on the saltier side. Was looking for more aroma and spices. The wonton dish was alright not as meaty. The restaurant is good for noodle soup kind of dishes. The dumplings were juicy but I felt the soup broth did not blend in with the dumplings. Might be just my individual preferences. Like the spinach noodles just wished it would come with a bit more spice.

Came here because of YouTube sensation Mikey Chen. The food is pretty awesome, never had this style of Chinese food before. The burgers are delicious and fatty. The noodles are very uniqueThe place however is very small and dingey. And I would definitely not recommend taking a dump in their washroom, it looks like it's overdue for renovation.

Amazing hidden gem that makes me miss China so much. The restaurant is small and family owned which makes the experience quite authentic. My favorite dishes are the cold noodles, the spinach hand pulled noodles, onion pancakes, and the red bean soup. The hand pulled noodles are by far my favorite noodles in the whole city, YOU MUST TRY! Best of all is that the dishes mentioned above are all vegan. Even though it's small, Joojak is a great local spot for those who eat meat, and are vegetarian or vegan.

It's okay. Nothing special. Everything there I ordered taste exactly the same. All have the same soy sauce , vingear, hot oil combination. I tried it once and it was enough for me. Hand made noodles was soggy not bouncy like it should be. The best dish was the chicken. Very tender. But most of the food is too oily/ salty.

Amazing restaurant with kind and attentive service. I had the handmade noodles with hot chilli oil, hot and sour dumplings, and lamb burger. They're all incredible. Our server was kind enough to go through the entire menu with us to tell us about the different items and even came over to make sure my friend stirred his noodles before eating it to mix in the flavours. I felt very welcome and will definitely be back again in the future.
